Coolmax CloakFX : a technical fiber for drier-looking garments

March 12, 2026

Presented at Performance Days Munich, this innovation from The Lycra Company incorporates an optical technology designed to reduce the visibility of moisture marks on clothing.

The Lycra Company has unveiled the Coolmax CloakFX fiber, introduced for the first time at Performance Days Munich, a trade show dedicated to functional textiles. Developed for sportswear, ready-to-wear and workwear, the fiber is designed to reduce the appearance of sweat marks while ensuring comfort and effective moisture management.

The technology relies on a fiber structure that integrates an optical principle capable of diffusing light, making damp areas less visible. Unlike surface treatments applied to fabrics, this property is built directly into the fiber, allowing the performance to remain consistent over time and after repeated washing.

Made from 93% recycled polyester and GRS certified, the fiber can be used in different textile constructions, including knit, woven and seamless. It may also offer a higher UV protection level (UPF) than some conventional polyester fibers.
